“I have a unique background for becoming an intern at Caleo Counseling because I am also a residential specialist through Ascend Mental Wellness. Being part of an agency like Ascend has opened so many opportunities that I have been so grateful for. The population treated at Caleo is so diverse and that is why I wanted to become an intern.  Now that I have become an intern, I can say I chose the best counseling site to learn. Clinicians at Caleo make me as an intern feel supported and capable in my abilities as a counselor. I can say with confidence that at Caleo, I am heard and listened to and would recommend applying here to any graduate student.”
– Cassie Goodsell, Caleo Counseling Clinical Intern  – 2025
“Interning at Caleo Counseling has been a very meaningful experience. It has only deepened my passion for helping others and affirmed that I’m exactly where I am meant to be. It’s been both validating and inspiring to witness the impact of the therapeutic relationship firsthand. I’ve been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to work closely with individuals, navigating a wide range of challenges, which has fostered an ideal environment to practice clinical skills and grow personally and professionally. The support I have received from the team has been great. From day one, I felt like an extension of the staff and have always felt that my input was valued and encouraged. The clinicians are so eager to teach and have created a supportive and comfortable environment for interns to learn. The feedback that I have received from my supervisor Kelly has been constructive and nonjudgmental. Supervision has been thoughtful, reflective, and consistently balanced the needs of clients with genuine care for my personal and professional development. My time here has been foundational in helping me find and trust my own therapeutic voice. It has allowed me to grow as a Social Worker who values both connection and clinical skill. The supportive environment encouraged me to show up authentically with clients while staying grounded in a person-centered approach. I am truly grateful for the space Caleo provided to explore, learn, and stay true to myself.”
Tierra Austin-Madyun , Caleo Counseling Clinical Intern  – 2024 – 2025
“I am so grateful that I’ve gotten the opportunity to do my MSW advanced-year field internship at Caleo Counseling.  Everyone is so welcoming and willing to offer support, advice, and information.  I appreciate the team atmosphere, from discussions at the weekly staff meeting to just walking down the hall.  I’ve been able to observe different clinicians, and now have my own small caseload.  I have an office, an assigned supervisor, and was able to pick which days I would attend.  Having a predictable schedule has allowed me to continue working, which is important for me as a graduate student.  I have access to trainings during times when I don’t have a client scheduled, and have been encouraged to attend outside trainings when possible.  Caleo has a process and infrastructure already set up for interns, which makes it an ideal setting for someone pursuing a career in therapy/counseling seeking an internship.”
